I'm pretty sure I've avoided the Depression I was fearing. I had been through it once before, 12 years ago, and I didn't understand the term until it hit me at the age of 36. I'm now FAR more empathetic towards others that suffer from mental health issues. Depression is real and if you don't get help it can have very long lasting effects on your mental, social and physical health. Any one who tells you to "suck it up and get over it" is an idiot and needs to experience Depression first hand to understand what an impact it can have on your life.
Get help when you feel the world is crashing around you. Best advice I can give is definitely take the time, no matter how hard it may be, to take care of yourself first. You are important! If you can't cope, you need help. THERE IS NO SHAME in getting help.
I've been making sure my diet is balanced, I'm taking vitamin D and Omega 3. I exercise as the weather allows and when necessary I just allow emotions to flow if needed. Nobody told me life was going to be easy, but that doesn't mean you or I cannot work toward making it fun again.
I have decided to continue to blog about food, cooking tips and adding recipes and variations as I go. I have been resilient with my health issues, was diligent with making adjustments to my husband's diet as I became aware of his issues, but most importantly, I've discovered I am well rounded enough as a cook that I can adapt a recipe from bad for you comfort food to a recipe to suit vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, Keto and pretty much whatever diet is being thrown at us these days. I'll be focusing on more of that as I continue to blog.
Plus I make about 8 variations of Tomato Soups that I HAVE to write out!
My food for thought, any diet you choose, choose it with care and don't become so stringent you can't make a few adaptations. As you age or if health issues develop, you may need to adapt to new food choices or eliminate foods which may plague your system.
I'm not marketing anything, I've nothing for sale and I've made mistakes with food choices based on what was being touted as a "healthy alternative" in whatever year the new fads were gearing up.
Honestly, whole food is best and keep the ingredients to items you recognize. I recently had a conversation with my niece and a few minor tweaks may be all that you need to accommodate what ever diet or challenge you may be facing.
I'll be deleting my other blogs and focusing here. The gardening is part of my experiments but not all food or spices come from my garden. I also recognize that my bulk cooking may not be for everyone, so I can again be resilient and create recipes for singles, couples or a whole family...looks like I'll be busy for years.
My thanks to everyone, Family and Friends, Acquaintances and even Strangers who have reached out to me when they discovered my situation. My husband lead a full life and was much loved, it turns out I have and am, as well.
Much love and best wishes for you all.
