Angelic Easter Eggs
If you have an imagination and like to cook, you can come up with some pretty fun ideas. Devilled eggs are pretty quick to make when you have guests, and they needn't be boring.
I practiced making these as I want them for Easter Sunday since we have a couple of guests coming over. Neither myself or my husband have much of a sweet tooth, so I don't do a lot of baking. These however, suit the theme of Easter, and I have my very own version of Easter Eggs, without the chocolate. I also didn't use food colouring, so I know what I'm eating. I used Spices and a Beet Slice.
Devilled Eggs are one of my husband's favourite things, he liked this idea a lot and they are fun to make. I've played with the same idea for a St. Patrick's Day theme using Spinach - St. Paddy's Angelic Eggs, you can also add in the Spinach Puree for a little extra colour if you wish.
Garden Devilled Eggs.
I won't bore you with a full recipe, the only difference from the garden Devilled Eggs is no Tarragon and I divided the whisked egg yolk mix into 3 bowls.
Add:
1/4 TSP Turmeric in 1 Bowl
1/2 TSP Paprika in another
1 slice of Beet - Very thin, and pureed with a 1 Teaspoon of water.
Whisk again and fill the eggs whites. I got a little decorative and mixed the colours. It's been a very long time since I decorated anything with a piping bag, I will need more practice.
Only hint I have on these, don't use too much Turmeric...it separates the Mayo if you use too much.
There you go, one Easter Idea for a snack and in the theme of Easter Eggs, but without the chocolate. Your kids and/or guests will probably get a kick out of the look of these eggs, and they are tasty too.
I don't think I'll have time to post anything new for Easter until after the holidays, but if I can, I most certainly will.
Happy Easter!
