I've been working in the garden the last two months and have had little to blog about as the meals I have been making have been basic. When it's hot I tend to eat lighter and will choose a quick meal over something heavy. Not very interesting as far as recipes go. Most of my posts have been about recipes, thoughts and techniques to use when cooking, but I will be making a change to my focus based on the the Doctor's appointments we both had yesterday and several conversations with friends.
I'm quite fit, have low blood pressure and even with my challenges my physicals usually come back to show I'm in good health overall. My Husband did not have the same results. Thankfully a few changes to diet and lifestyle will help, and he's going to have make some changes.
I have commented before I have been monitoring my own salt and cholesterol intake, although I like to indulge on occasion, I do moderate what I eat. I can control our meals at home, but not what he eats outside of it. We will be working together to make sure his diet is far healthier than it was.
I know everyone gets busy, convenient food is required, but you should really look at the ingredients if you are eating on the go all the time. I'm a big believer in moderation, I do pick up a hamburger and will fry food but I'll eat lighter through the day or the next several if I have indulged. I'm not going to preach either.
I'll continue on my experiments, but now, I'll additionally be looking at healthier and convenient choices for lunches at the office which he will enjoy. As an experiment for myself, I'll be creating meals which are gluten and dairy free too. I already eat well, though as much as I like baking bread, I think I'll give it a rest for a while and try something new.
Have a wonderful weekend.
